This year our annual Asian Music Summer School took place at the Royal Academy of Music, London from 23 rd to 30 th July 2005. It included Indian, Chinese and Japanese music summer schools and attracted around 100 participants from across the UK , Europe and America . The theme of this year's summer school was ‘Music and Meditation'. Meditative qualities permeate throughout Asian musical traditions and this year's summer school explored such moods and meditation. Students learned directly from their teachers for the week and attended informative seminars and a series of concerts at the Jerwood Hall, LSO St Luke's exploring this theme. Optional yoga and tai-chi classes were available every morning to help participants to relax and enjoy the rest of the day. Comments and feedback from 2005 participants: ‘ The quality of the teaching was superb.' ‘It's been an immensely rewarding experience.' ‘ Fantastic! Excellent way of working with beginners, to help us play with the whole group.' ‘Absolutely fantastic. An immense privilege to work with the master.' ‘I would like to come again.' ‘ Good to learn from each other and share skills and work as a team.'
