Chinese New Year School Workshops
To celebrate the Chinese New Year of the Dragon, the Asian Music Circuit will be offering a wonderful range of workshops for primary schools particularly in West London including Brent, Ealing, Hammersmith and Fulham, Harrow, Hillingdon, Hounslow and Kensington and Chelsea. The workshops will take place from 20th Jan & in Feb 2012. There is now limited availability so please book early to avoid disappointment.
Workshops are generally 1-2 hours or can fill a half/full day, taking place in schools or at the AMC’s Museum of Asian Music in Acton (London). Our workshops are suitable for age 3 and above, ideal for learners at KS1 and above, or for children with SEN. Activities might include; Chinese Calligraphy, Chinese Opera, mask/puppet making, traditional Asian story telling, Chinese lantern making, Tai Chi and Kung Fu. Our artists can deliver an assembly performance, lively demonstrations of dance and movement workshops where children can have a go. For the mask and lantern making the group can bring their own props, or work with schools’ existing materials such as cardboard, colourful paint, paper and colours.
Located in the London Borough of Ealing, the Museum of Asian Music is a multimedia resource and education centre housing instruments from all across Asia. It houses a recital room where we regularly hold music and dance workshops, seminars and organise recitals with visiting and local Asian musicians.
With cost starting at just £200 per session (fees negotiable), this is a brilliant opportunity for schools to bring something memorable to their students and could tie in well with the music, dance, geography, PE and art areas of the National Curriculum at KS1 and KS2.
