MURAD ALI  - sarangi  maestro

Murad Ali is widely regarded as one of India’s finest younger generation players of the difficult but beautiful bowed instrument – the sarangi.

He represents the sixth generation of sarangi players in his family. He has a tremendously sensitive style not only when accompanying vocalists but in his own right as a brilliant virtuosic soloist. This gives encouragement to those who felt that the sarangi was in decline.  He has won many awards and performed all over the world and collaborated with musicians of other disciplines.

The AMC has worked with Murad for many years now and are delighted to have him with us again in 2015 to accompany Savita Devi (thumri) , Radhika Chopra (ghazal) and Pts Rajan and Sajan Misra all at the Cadogan Hall and to give a solo recital with Hanif Khan on tabla  at The Arts Cllub, St Ives, Cornwall.
